Taking a look at the radar screen today shows rain continues at a steady pace as we near the noon hour in Kansas. As outlined by the SPC, this is the zone of the highest tornado chances today — but the degree of destabilization remains a giant question mark as we move into the afternoon. Morning HRRR runs did not capture the extent/strength of this rain shield that well, which may affect things as we move into the afternoon. Overnight runs of the REFS seemed to handle this better, with lower overall odds of severe weather this afternoon and evening. We’ll be watching this as it evolves throughout the rest of the day.
