A localized outbreak of tornadoes struck the central Oklahoma area, with several recording strong ratings and one SW of Shawnee, Oklahoma earning an EF4 rating. This was a day we chased extremely well, as we were on the first to last tornado of the day in Oklahoma, seeing multiple tornadoes from a couple of supercells over a few hours. A really well executed chase day!

This was a monster of a tornado we captured on May 24, 2011. Still to this day, it probably ranks as the strongest tornado we’ve seen as it caused near EF-5 damage along its track from NE Chickasha towards the SW OKC metro area. This was truly a day.
May 24, 2011 is one day we’ll remember forever. The atmosphere was absolutely locked and loaded for a huge day with parameters on the high end of the space. We targeted Central Oklahoma and ended up witnessing multiple strong/violent tornadoes.
