June 22, 2018 Storm Chase | NW OK Supercells and Derecho

This was the ceremonial end to the 2018 storm chase season. Emphatically it was finally over, with few really great highlights in what was one of the quietest/least productive chase seasons of the past two decades.

Still, this day promised the possibility to grab a tornado intercept at the end of the season, with supercells forming over the high terrain of New Mexico and Colorado and spreading east/south into Oklahoma in the evening. We ended up with supercells initially — but storms quickly grew upscale into an MCS that accelerated forward, with derecho criteria met by this line as it moved S and E.
