Sometimes, its the unexpected raindrop that scares storm chasers most. As we approached a supercell, we ended up hitting the cells RFD with wind and intermittent rain — which hit the car as a quite sudden burst of rain. Needless to say, it caught us way off guard.
Some chases, things simply do not work out and some days the bust is so bad that even a general storm at home ends up being the highlight of the day, an hour before sunset.
When lightning is hitting way too close for comfort and Goforth decides it is time to get the shot. Not recommended by anyone, anywhere, anytime.
